Artist Statement

Rue Grewal is a Toronto-based artist working primarily in oil paint. Her practice explores presence and belonging in moments within landscapes. Through forests, moving water, shifting skies, sunlight, and birds, her paintings invite contemplation and offer space for reflection.

Guided by curiosity and close observation, her work considers the relationship between nature and presence. Her paintings are held in private collections internationally and her practice continues to evolve through exhibitions, collaborations, and ongoing studio research.

I share works in progress, new collections, exhibitions, and quiet moments from the studio on Instagram.

Painting allows me to slow down enough to notice the relationships between people, places, and our experience with time.
